Public Telephone

長い間、公衆電話は使っていません。最後に使ったのは余りにも遠い昔なのでいつだったか覚えていません。しかし、昔はよく使っていました。

約30年前、日本行きた頃、公衆電話は必需品でした。ホテルの部屋から国際電話をかけるのは手数料がかかったのでかなり高額でした。少しでも節約するために、テレホンカードを使用して公衆電話をよく使いました。

公衆電話は現在、殆ど使用されてなく、懐かしく、静かに、昔の暮らしを思い出させます。 最後に公衆電話を使ったのはいつか覚えていますか？

It’s been a long time since I’ve used a public telephone. It’s been so long ago that I can’t remember when the last time actually was. Yet, there once was a time when I would use the public phone regularly.

Back thirty years ago, when I first started making trips to Japan, it was quite expensive to make international phone calls from a hotel room. In order to save some money, I often used the public phones with a pre-paid telephone card.

Now, the public phone stands mostly unused, nostalgically, as a reminder of bygone days.
