Idyllic Times -のどかな時代

アメリカ中で抗議行動は自分の人生の振り返りの機会でもあると思いました。私は日本で生まれましたが、子供の頃にニューヨークに家族と引っ越しました。これはおよそ50年前のことです。

新しいクラスの他の生徒よりもはるかに遅れていました。私はクラスでの差別の事例を思い出すことはできません。私はいつも先生から親切な配慮を受け、先生はまさに模範となる方でした。

私が経験したのどかな時代は、アメリカの現在の状況を見ると、はるか昔のように感じます。

The events occurring across the United States made me reflect upon my own life’s journey. I was born in Japan but moved to New York when I was a boy. This was almost fifty years ago. I was a student among many races and nationalities. We were all treated with respect, kindness and care by our teacher who set an example for everyone.

The idyllic times I experienced seem so long ago as I think about the current situation in the country.
